Rest Room我一向認為就是廁所的意思
不過今天查字典上面寫

(a)(員工等的)休息室。(b)【美】(戲院等的)廁所;公共廁所。

請問rest room也有休息室的意思嗎?
還是所謂的休息室其實是有附廁所的休息室呢?

就字面上的意思是這樣沒有錯,不過我覺得現在很少有人拿來表示休息室的意思。
rest room當作休息室的用法是比較古老的。

Yes. And it's one word: "restroom". It's an American phrase. Outside of
America, most people say "toilet".

Then it is probably an error. It should be "restroom".

No, it would still mean "toilet".

2. 廁所

Yes. And it's one word: "restroom". It's an American phrase. Outside of

Also "washroom" and "bathroom".
"washroom" is common in Canada. Some people say it in the US, too. I don't
know about England, however; words like "loo" and "WC" are common in
England.

"bathroom" is purely an American euphemism for a room that contains a
toilet. Actually, a room or even a toilet isn't required: peeing outside in
the bushes can also be called "going to the bathroom" in America. Outside
the US, "bathroom" means a room with a bathtub in it.

Hardly anyone in the UK uses the terms "loo" and "WC" now, and you certainly
will not see signs with these written on. "Toilet" is the most common
word in the UK:
Where's the toilet?
I need to go to the toilet.

Absolutely. In the UK this term is often limited to the use of American
tourists when they ask for the "bathroom".

In practice, a bathtub is not the requirement for a bathroom, and a room
with a shower only (no bathtub) can also be called a "bathroom".

Just remembered another word in the same group: "lavatory"

ㄟ........
loo在英國是很常用的口語耶
toilet也蠻常用就是了
英國路邊公共廁所男廁叫GENTS女廁叫LADIES
倒是比較少聽他們用WC唷
但偶爾會看到用WC標示廁所
以上互相切磋;-))
