之前去美國出差, 晚上看他們的氣象報告時發現,
除了氣溫之類常見的數據外, 通常都還有一項 Dew Point

請問 dew point 是什麼含意, 對美國人的日常生活有何重要性呢?

就是humidity濕度的意思，只是氣象學家較喜歡用dew point表示。
not really...
humidity是濕度,是以百分比數值顯示
dew point是指開始dew的溫度,是以一溫度值顯示
請參考yahoo英文站上的氣象查詢,它兩個資料都會顯示
兩者並非一樣的東西

All air contains water vapour of varying quantities.
The dew point indicates the amount of moisture in the air.
The higher the dew point, the higher the moisture content of
the air at a given temperature. Conversely, the dew point of
humid air will be higher than the dew point of dry air.

Dew point temperature is defined as the temperature to which
the air would have to cool (at constant pressure and constant
water vapour content) in order to reach saturation. A state of
saturation exists when the air is holding the maximum amount of
water vapour possible at the existing temperature and pressure.

Condensation of water vapour begins when the temperature of air
is lowered to its dew point and beyond. The dew point, like other
measures of humidity, can be calculated from readings taken by a
hygrometer.

沒錯，就是露點溫度

空氣中的水汽到達當時溫度的最大限度，稱為「飽和」。
如果超過飽和，剩下的水汽又凝結成水滴或凝華成冰晶。
氣溫達到飽和的溫度，叫做露點溫度(dew point)
