請問 any 與 any other 的區別

請問各位高手：

Ex. She is taller than any other girl in her class.

= She is taller than all the other girls in her class.


Ex. Taipei is smaller than any city in America.

= Taipei is smaller than all cities in America.



想先跟各位高手請教，

以上的句子有寫錯嗎？

如果沒有錯誤的話，那麼，什麼時候一定要加 other，

什麼時候又不需要加 other 進去呢？

any other = A is same group as B

This course is better than any other courses I've taken.

"This course" is same "group" as "other courses".

Using "any" by itself is not really a "comparison".
