小弟在網站上練習了閱讀部份的模擬題
以下幾題有疑問~希望版上大大不吝指教
1. So far this year four typhoons – two of them very strong –_______
southern Taiwan.
A. were striking
B. will strike
C. have been struck
D. have struck
為什麼答案是D而不是C呢?

2. Depending on the _______ he is in, the boss will either thank you for your
suggestion or fire you for criticizing his plan.
A. emotion
B. behavior
C. mood
D. attitude
答案為C 但"Depending on the mood he is in"這句是什麼意思?怎麼翻都怪怪的

3. Defensive drivers _______ their driving mirrors frequently so that they
know at all times if there are other vehicles or people nearby.
A. see to
B. look in
C. check into
D. watch out
答案是B 但"look in"查字典的意思是短時間探訪某人家或到某處~
這樣的邏輯適用在這題上嗎?

^^^^^^^^應改為striking
表示已經+持續.....句意不對
D. have struck
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^have+Vp.p.表示已經完成
已襲擊台灣

為什麼答案是D而不是C呢?

suggestion or fire you for criticizing his plan.
A. emotion
B. behavior
C. mood
D. attitude
答案為C 但"Depending on the mood he is in"這句是什麼意思?怎麼翻都怪怪的
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^以老闆現在的心情狀況來看，.....

know at all times if there are other vehicles or people nearby.
A. see to
B. look in
C. check into
D. watch out
答案是B 但"look in"查字典的意思是短時間探訪某人家或到某處~
這樣的邏輯適用在這題上嗎?

應該是出在"in"的問題，重點在mirror
舉例來說好了~I looked at myself in the mirror yesterday.

颱風當然是「攻擊」台灣，不會「被攻擊」台灣

「看他的心情而定」，阿是哪裡怪了

答案是B 但"look in"查字典的意思是短時間探訪某人家或到某處~
這樣的邏輯適用在這題上嗎?

look in a mirror就是「往鏡子裡面看」
不要把字典的解釋當聖經，也不要把片語就當片語解釋
有很多字只當字用，不作片語解的場合

而且書上整理出來的片語有30%以上是早就不合時宜的
昨天才碰到一個英漢字典不可盡信的例子

為什麼答案是D而不是C呢?

C = 颱風被撞到台灣. It doesn't make sense. The typhoons struck Taiwan
(active voice); they were not struck by something else (passive voice).

In any case, the following construction is wrong: "be + pp + noun". A
passive construction would be "be + pp + by + noun": "Taiwan was struck by
two typhoons."

C is correct. There's nothing strange about it.

Dictonaries don't always explain all the possible meanings of a word or
phrase.
