請問 as the story goes 是據說的意思嗎

此句也可說成 as the story runs?

我只有在奇摩找到解釋，可是我在別的網頁找不到

所以可以這麼用嗎? 謝謝

Not really. In American English at least, that doesn't work. It's always
"goes".
