外國人有這樣的稱謂嗎？

Godmother

就我對「教母」認知

當然一定是跟小孩這一家很親近的親友才能擔任

就含意來看應該是相同的

不過從字面的意義來看

我們會認的乾媽

好像不需要跟我們有相同的宗教信仰吼～～

「像親人一樣的長輩」，有沒有這樣的說法？

就含意來看應該是相同的

Technically, godmother / godfather is someone who sponsors
someone else's child for baptism in a church. So you are correct,
it would have to be a very close family member.

However, wikipedia does give the following:

In some cultures, the word for "godparent of one's child" is used for any,
or certain, very close friends. This is the meaning of the Spanish compadre
and comadre, the French commère and compère, and the archaic meaning of the
English word gossip (from godsib, "god-sibling").

Godparent is also used, in absence of a "religious reason", as a stated
person (be it family member or close friend) who is responsible for the
child in the event of both parents' demise or incapacition.

Yes, my friend call his godmother godmother. And, both of them are not catholic

Yes, my friend call his godmother godmother. And, both of them are not catholic

I am curious. Exactly what the heck is a 乾媽? What's her obligation to
her 乾children? This kind of relationship may be old and outdated now.
I've never ever, in my whole life, heard any of my friends who has a 乾parent
or a乾child, although we do hear occasionally someone jokingly calls one
乾兒子. Since it is a blurry concept to me, I find it hard to translate it
into English. Equally blurry to me is the concept of a godparent. I go to
church at times and have seen many baptisms, but never have I heard any of
the brothers and sisters call someone 教母/父.
