When I was checking for a word on Yahoo's dictionary page. I found a sentence
which says "He complained to the police of the boys stealing his apples."

I wonder if in this sentence that something is overlooked? Otherwise, why "the
boys" in the sentence can be straight followed by a verbal noun?

Can someone help me to figure out this? thx in advance....

"complain about" works a lot better -- "of" doesn't sound natural,
especially when followed by a clause.
