His dad had the pickup going. He could get up now.
Jess slid out of bed and into his overalls. He didn't worry about a shirt
because once he began running he would be hot as popping grease even if the
morning air was chill, or shoes because the bottoms of his feet were by now
as tough as his worn-out sneakers.

As you see, i've got some questions on words which are highlighted.
First of all, i wanna know wat "Ba-room" and "Baripity" mean. Second, i wonder
what the phrase in red means? If there's some one answers me, thx in advance.

The explanation of "Pickup" here should be the first thing google replies.
(Yes, I actually googled it.)

"Get the pickup going" means get the pickup working,
and the words in your 1st question is the effects when the pickup finally
