Dear Folks,

I have been teaching English in Taiwan more or less since September,1987. I
intend to post articles about my experience, thoughts about the language
learning process, methods that I have found successful, and so on.

I am not sure these are the correct newsgroups.

Any comments?

I have a blog, but I seldom touch it.

Never hurts to start now. That's how I started mine (see my sig).

I agree with your comments about "mental translation". The only way to
learn a language is to THINK in that language. And mental translation
is a crutch that is best tossed as early as possible. Once you can think
in that language, grammar and vocabulary will simply add to your
confidence.
